Frequently Asked Questions: Master Bath Remodeling
We know a full-scale renovation is a big investment. Here are the most common questions we hear from homeowners in Southern Maryland when planning a master suite transformation.
How long does a complete master bath renovation typically take?
For a project of this scale—stripping back to the studs, rerouting plumbing, and installing custom stone—the timeline is usually 4 to 6 weeks. This ensures enough time for inspections, waterproof curing, and the precision installation of heavy materials like granite and glass sufficient time for inspections, waterproof curing, and the precise installation of heavy materials such as
Do I need to move out during construction?
Not necessarily! While there will be noise and dust during the demolition phase, we use HEPA filtration and zip-wall barriers to keep the rest of your home clean. Since this is a master bath, you will need an alternative showering option during the renovation period.
Why did you strip the walls down to the studs in the photos?
We believe in doing it right the first time. Opening the walls allows us to:
- Inspect for hidden mold or water damage.
- Update outdated electrical wiring to meet modern safety codes.
- Ensure the plumbing is perfectly positioned for your new fixtures.
- Install high-grade insulation (as seen in our progress photos) to keep your bathroom warm in the winter.
Can I change the layout of my existing bathroom?
Yes! As seen in this project, we can reroute drain lines and water supplies to move tubs, vanities, or toilets. If your current layout feels "cluttered" or "cramped," we can often reconfigure the footprint to improve the flow without adding square footage.
What is the most durable material for a vanity top?
For this project, we chose Granite. It is incredibly heat-resistant (perfect for hair tools) and highly resistant to scratches. When properly sealed, it provides a lifetime of beauty with very little maintenance compared to marble or wood.
